Ogbono seeds (the local name for Irvingia)  originated and from Southern Nigeria with considerable local variation. Ogbono is an indigenous forest tree associated with plants classified as “non timber forest products”. The fruit and seeds of the ogbono (African mango) tree are incredibly nutrient-packed. The seeds are rich sources of fats, protein, carbs, iron, calcium, and antioxidants. Ogbono Soup is a specialty from Southeastern Nigeria.
